Virgilina

Lynn Colin Overby, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on January 1, 1943, in Halifax County, Virginia, Lynn lived a full and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love, and cherished memories.

Lynn spent his life in Virgilina, Virginia, where he made a name for himself as a skilled machine operator grader, a trade he pursued with passion and dedication since the age of 16. He loved his work and took great pride in his role in the construction industry superintendent. Outside of work, Lynn found joy in the simple pleasures of life, tending to his garden, nurturing his beloved fruit trees and grapevines, casting lines into serene waters while fishing, and collecting unique knives.

A man of strong values and gentle demeanor, Lynn was deeply committed to his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Annie Overby, and their two sons, Darrell Lynn Overby and Anthony Wade Overby (Amanda). His legacy continues through the next generation, as he was a proud grandfather to three granddaughters, Carissa, Jade, and Haley Overby, and a great-grandfather to Kyng Overby. Lynn also leaves behind his brother, Ronnie Overby (Marie), and his sister, Deborah Wilkins, along with numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents Charlie Samuel Overby and Willie Buntin Overby; his son, Charlie Samuel Overby; three sisters, Helen Hill, Francis Tuck, and Mary Ann Stanley; and three brothers, Johnny, Charlie "Bear", and Raymond Overby.
