Martha Gayle Reaves

Martha Gayle Pulliam Reaves, of Virgilina, VA passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the age of 65. She was born on March 18, 1960, in Halifax County to Henry Jordan Pulliam and Gladys Louise Brandon Pulliam. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh "Junior" Beam Reaves.

Gayle spent her lifetime devoted to family, friends, and her beloved community. A graduate of Halifax County High School, Gayle dedicated her life to being a homemaker, where she embodied warmth, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to those around her. Gayle's interests were as vibrant and heartfelt as her personality. She found joy in cutting grass and riding her golf cart, activities that not only reflected her love for the outdoors but also her vibrant spirit and love of simple pleasures. Her contributions to the community were countless, as she was always ready to lend a helping hand, take care of her neighbors, and ensure that everyone she encountered felt valued and supported.

She is survived by her siblings, Louise Inscoe ( Robert "Dalton"), Henry "Jackie" Pulliam (Faye) and Sue Hall; nieces, nephews and other family members.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Archie Lee Pulliam.

A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held on March 18, 2026 at 2:00PM at the Virgilina Cemetery with the Reverend Jason Pulliam officiating. The family will meet with friends and family from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM at Randy Pulliam's house, 1012 Carolina Street, Virgilina, VA, right next to Gayle's house.
