Mary Jewel Adams

Mary Jewel Short Adams, of South Boston, VA, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born on September 9, 1934, to the late Jewell Bennett Short and Mary Helms Short. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dewey Allen Adams.

She was a devoted wife and mother, and especially proud of her grandchildren. Mary is survived by her sons, Steven Alton Adams (Lisa) and Michael Thomas Adams; and her grandchildren, Joshua Adams (Brittany) and Danielle Adams (Blaise Martin).

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Allen Adams; brothers, Bennett Short, Ralph Short, Sr., and Don Short.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Dan River Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. John Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in Mary's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
