Mary Price Thaxton

Mary Price Thaxton, of South Boston, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7th, 2025, at the age of 94. She was born on July 16th, 1931, in Bedford, Virginia, Mary lived a life filled with warmth, adventure, and love. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William Harrison Price and Mary Craddock, as well as her devoted husband of over 60 years, Killis Washington Thaxton Jr. She carried the love and memories of her family with her throughout her life.

A dedicated employee, Mary worked for many years at O'Sullivan, where her colleagues cherished her commitment and hardworking spirit. Beyond her professional life, Mary was an active member of the United Methodist Women's group, where her contributions brought comfort and joy to many. Mary had a passion for music and a particular fondness for bluegrass festivals. She found immense joy in the melodies and harmonies, which she cherished throughout her life. Her love for travel took her on numerous adventures, always returning to her favorite locations - the serene beaches that she adored. Sunday's were a sacred day for Mary, as she was a faithful member at Glenwood United Methodist Church and always cooked meals for her family every Sunday. She was a wonderful, loving Mama, Grandma and savored any and all family gatherings.

She is survived by a daughter, Jeanette T. Rogers, son, Daryl E. Thaxton; grandchildren, Tracey Rogers, Beth Francis, Melissa Thaxton, Allison Thaxton, Tammy Thaxton; and 9 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Thaxton, Sr; daughter, Glenda Sue Thaxton; grandson, Larry Thaxton, Jr.; her brothers & sisters; and a niece, Linda Reagan.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, November 9, 2026 at Glenwood United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Glenwood United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to Mary's service at the church, and all other times at Jeanette's home.
