Michael Scott Evans

Michael Scott Evans of South Boston, passed away on Monday, January 5th, 2026, at the age of 35. He was born on February 19th, 1990 to Tammatha "Tammy" Ford Smith and the late Sgt. Otis "Odie" Clifton Landrum, Jr.

Michael spent his life in Virginia, where he was known for his dedication to his craft as a skilled carpenter and construction worker. In addition to his professional achievements, Michael was an avid outdoorsman who found solace and joy in the natural world. Whether it was hunting or fishing, he relished every opportunity to connect with nature. His artistic spirit was evident in his appreciation for art, which he often expressed through his love of singing and dancing. Those who knew Michael will remember him for his infectious enthusiasm and vibrant personality.

He is survived by his mother, Tammatha "Tammy" Ford Smith (Donnie); wife, Emily Snead Evans; children, Taylor, Mackenzie & Grayson; sisters, Tiffany Smith & Kimberly Foster (Paul); brother, David Wayne Landrum; nieces & nephews, Jesse, Joseph & Ashlynn; aunt, Melinda Held; grandmother, Debra Hicks; grandmother, Bonnie Shotwell (Ray) and numerous cousins, friends & family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sgt. Otis Landrum, Jr; grandparents, Virginia Gracie & Alfred Shotwell, Ralph & Margaret Ford, Harold "Bo" Smith; great grandparents, Raymond & Thelma Carswell; and uncle, Terry Wayne Clayton II.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Vance Midgett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 2 PM until service time at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other times the home of his mother at 7202 Philpott Rd., South Boston, VA 24592.
