Mildred Conner Smith

RED OAK, VA - Mrs. Mildred Conner Smith of Red Oak, VA went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the age of 90.She was born on September 1, 1929 to the late Herman and Lillian Anderson Conner and was married to the late Hershel Jeter Smith. Mildred was a faithful member of Public Fork Christian Church. She was also a member of the ACC at Antioch Baptist Church. She loved flowers and had a beautiful array in her yard. Mildred was very proud of her employment of 53 years as the personnel secretary with Burlington/West Point Stevens. Most of all was the love she had for her family and her special dog,“JoJo.” She is survived by a daughter, Sandy Faye Smith; son, Michael Anthony “Tony” Smith and wife, Joanne; grandchildren, Kevin Smith and wife, Jessica, Steven Smith and Beth Throckmorton, Ryan Smith and wife, Melissa; great grandchildren, Rowan Smith and Hattie Smith; brothers, William Conner, Roy Conner and Mickey Conner; sister, Grace Young and many other family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Reverend H.V. Conner, Perry Conner, James “Butch” Conner and Bobby Conner; and sister, Margaret Anderson. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 13, 2020 at Public Fork Christian Church with Evangelist Denis Fritz officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home. The family requests those wishing to give memorials please consider your local SPCA.
