It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nettie Coleman Talley, who peacefully departed this life on Saturday, July 12th, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on August 3rd, 1927, in Person County, North Carolina. Nettie spent a lifetime spreading love, kindness, and grace to those fortunate enough to have known her. She was the daughter of the late James Stanton Coleman and Nettie Talley Coleman and was predeceased by her husband, Luther Erket Talley in 2021.
Nettie was a cherished resident of the High Plains community, where she served her Lord at Calvary Baptist Church, she created a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories. Throughout her life, she embodied strength, wisdom, and a deep love for her family and community. Nettie was a wonderful mother, wife and caregiver, a godly woman, dedicated grandmother and had the heart of a servant. She enjoyed quilting, gardening in her flowers and watching Barney. Her family always enjoyed her wonderful cooking and she liked to dress well to impress.
She is survived by her children, Jean T. Wilkerson & husband, Pastor Vernon Wilkerson, Frank Talley & wife, Barbara, Joyce T. Schutte & husband, Earl, Harry Talley (Dawn), Dorothy T. Yarborough, Pastor Norman Talley & wife, Brenda, Ruth T. Compton, Faye T. Martin & husband, Grady and Kaye T. Hansen & husband, Jim; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; and brothers, James Coleman (Linda) and Philip Coleman and wife Linda.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Lois C. Stewart, Kathrine C. Epps, Stanton Coleman, Nannie C. Martin, Henry Coleman, Anne C. Goins, Lilly C. Moss & Mae C. Shepherd; son-in-law, Gerald Yarborough; and daughter-in-law, Katheryn Lawter Talley. Their spirits surely welcomed her with open arms as she joined them once more.
The family invites friends, family, and community members to pay their respects at a visitation on Saturday, July 19th, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 2663 High Plains Road, Roxboro, NC, followed by the funeral service at 1:30 pm, where Pastor and son-in-law, Vernon Wilkerson and Pastor and nephew, Charlie Martin will honor and celebrate Nettie's remarkable life and legacy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
