Ola Marie Hayes

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. Mrs. Ola Marie Conner Hayes of 1069 West Oak Hill Drive, Halifax, Va died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the age of 73.Born August 12, 1941 in Halifax County, she was the daughter of the late Henry H. Conner and the late Ola Mary Perkins Conner, and was married to the late Marion Lee "Gabby" Hayes.Mrs. Hayes was a 1960 graduate of Halifax High School and an active member of Southside Baptist Church where she was currently serving as pianist.She spent all of her adult life working at Burlington Industries.Upon the loss of her husband, she began caring for children in her home. Surviving are three daughters, Janice Wallace and her husband, Junior of Halifax, Va,; Lynn Conner and her husband, Johnnie, Jr., of South Boston, VA ; Tracy Carmichael and her husband Harold, also of South Boston, VA; one sister, Lucille Franklin and her husband, Oscar of Richmond VA;six grandchildren, Brandy Wallace, Jason Wallace, Sarah Wallace, Christopher Carmichael, Mary Beth Carmichael, and Kristi Conner Mills; one great grandchild, Liam Mills; and by her devoted companion, Lewis Clardy of Halifax, VA.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry "Bill" Conner and Herman Conner. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home with The Reverend Don Bryant officiating.Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Friday night from 7 until 8:30 PM and at other times at her residence.
