Paul Arlin Tolliver III, a resident of Danville, VA and a dedicated family man, respected soil technician, and proud Army veteran, passed away on August 23, 2025, at the age of 61.
Born in the rugged beauty of Fairbanks, Alaska, on February 28, 1964, Paul was the beloved son of the late Glenna Taylor Tolliver and Paul Arlin Tolliver, who survives. He was married for 36 years to the love of his life, Marie Meierdiercks Tolliver. His upbringing in the Last Frontier instilled in him both a love for the natural world and a profound sense of adventure.
Paul proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, earning the distinction of a disabled veteran. His service to his country and the sacrifices he made therein were among his most cherished accomplishments. He built his career at Trigon, where he dedicated many years as a soil technician. His colleagues remember him as a passionate expert in his field, whose dedication to the job was only surpassed by his commitment to his family. An enthusiastic participant in the world of tabletop gaming, Paul found joy and camaraderie among his fellow gamers. He cherished the friendships he formed and the countless adventures they embarked upon together around the gaming table. Above all, Paul was a steadfast protector of his family, whom he adored unconditionally. His devotion to his children and his father, whom he regarded as his hero, was evident in all aspects of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; his father, Paul; his children, Pamela Newcomb (Eric) of Saxe, Jennifer Kaywood (Chris) of Buffalo Junction, Paul A. Tolliver, IV of Alberta, Joanna Cheek and Phillip Tolliver of Minnesota; and sister, Pamela Flewwellin (David) of Anchorage, AK.
In addition to his mother, Glenna, he was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick A. Tolliver.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, August 28th at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Leigh Felton officiating. Burial will follow in Boydton Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1 PM until 2 PM, at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.
Though he has left this world, the echoes of his laughter, the warmth of his spirit, and the strength of his love will remain with us always.
