Nelson, VA. - Peggy Mason Overbey went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 9, 2019, three days before her 77th birthday. Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Fannie Mason and Robert Mason. She grew up in Petersburg with her 3 brothers. Peggy was a homemaker for all of her life in addition to working at Russell Stover Candy Company, Lake Sleepwear and Tultex Sweatshirt Factory, from which she retired. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also enjoyed traveling, beach trips, road trips and cruising with her family. Peggy was a faithful and longtime member of Nelson Baptist Church in Nelson, VA. Peggy is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert Overbey; two sons, Roger Overbey and wife, Cindy and Robert “Bobby” Overbey and wife, Tammy, all of Nelson; a daughter, Carolyn Scott and husband, Malcom of Rougemont, NC; grandsons, Daniel Overbey and Michael Knight (Krista); and great grandchildren, A.J. and Bella. Peggy is also survived by a brother, Kenneth Mason and wife, Linda Temple; a special “Mother” and traveling companion, Granny Temple, all of Colonial Heights, VA, as well as many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Peggy was preceded in death by two of her brothers, Edward Mason and Robert Mason and her adored mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sally and Walter Overbey. Her very special Aunt Lizzie and Uncle Ernest Emory also predeceased Peggy. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Nelson Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Reverend Don Wilson will be officiating.
