Ruby Adcock Dodson

Roanoke Rapids, NC Ruby Adcock Dodson, 71, widow of Joel E. Dodson, died on Tuesday, October 27, 2015.Ruby was born to the late Willie Garland Adcock and Gladys Russ Adcock on July 12, 1944 in Mecklenburg County.She worked for over 20 years with the Mecklenburg County Corrections office and was the first female Sergeant Correctional officer in the state of Virginia; then worked with her son at Allgood’s General Store in Roanoke Rapids, NC.The funeral service will be held at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home in Clarksville on Friday, October 30th at 2 PM and a visitation will take place two hours prior.The Reverend Dennis Gregory, Sr. will be officiating.Ruby is survived by her son, Stephen Allgood and wife, Betty of Roanoke Rapids, NC, her brother, Burnett F. Adcock of Petersburg, her granddaughter, Hayley Allgood and several nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and two brothers.The family would like to give special thanks to Jessie Walker for all the special care that was given to Mrs. Dodson.The family of Ruby Adcock Dodson is being cared for by Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home in Clarksville, VA.
