Mrs. Shannon Forlines Skipwith, 85, died on Tuesday, December 22, 2015. She was born in Mecklenburg County on October 23, 1930 to the late Amos C. and Finnie Jones Forlines. Shannon was the widow of Beverley Craige Skipwith. Shannon was a 1946 graduate of Clarksville High School. On December 17, 1948, she and Beverley Craige Skipwith married. Shannon worked for Roses Department store for thirteen years retiring in 1984. Shannon was known as a good cook, enjoyed sewing, worked at Lake Sleepwear and loved the game of Bingo. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was an active member at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church. Visitation for friends and family will be on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 7:00 – 8:30 PM at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on December 24, 2015 at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church with entombment following at Oakhurst Cemetery. Mrs. Skipwith is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Ellen and Larry Holloway of Wake Forest, NC and Susan Glasscock of Clarksville; son and daughter-in-law, Beverley Craige Jr. and Tammy Skipwith of Meherrin, VA; sister, Katie Yancey of Clarksville; and four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Beverley; her sisters, Frances Driggs and Emma Grey Garrett; and her brother Payton Hayes.The Skipwith family is being cared for by Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, Clarksville, VA.
