HALIFAX, VA Mrs. Sharon Annette Jones Moore passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Sunday, February 23, 2020 after suffering with diabetes and dementia for many years. Born in South Boston on October 6, 1953, she was the daughter of the late William Walker Jones and Tine Bell Cozart Jones.She was married to James (Jimmy) Thomas Moore. Sharon was a dedicated, lifelong member of Glenwood United Methodist Church; and throughout her years at Glenwood, she was a member of the choir, the United Methodist Women; and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Sharon was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She spent most of her working career with Sprint in South Boston and the Halifax County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office. In addition to her husband and mother, Sharon is survived by daughters, Jennifer Carr (Justin) of Roanoke, Stephanie Moore of Vernon Hill and son, Scott (Heather Baird) of Charlotte, N.C.Seven beautiful grandchildren whom she loved and adored also survive: Taylor, Madison and Hannah Terry, James Dale (J.D.), Jessica, Jordan and Jacob Carr. Also surviving are brothers, Christopher D. Jones and Craig A. Jones (Bryan Price) of South Boston and sister-in-law, Dr. Virginia Jones, of South Boston and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.Other than her father, Sharon was preceded in death by her brother, Dwight A. Jones. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, February 25 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home, South Boston and other times at the home, 1247 Grubby Road, Halifax. A Service of Death and Resurrection led by Rev. Betty Marshall will be held Wednesday, February 26 at 11 a.m. at Glenwood United Methodist Church, 4030 Philpott Road, South Boston.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.A reception will be held following the services in the church fellowship hall.
