Stephen Bruce Roberts, devoted husband of Joan Thames Roberts, went to be with the Lord late Saturday evening, October 20, 2018, at the age of 71. He was born on September 22, 1947, in Richmond, VA, to the late George Thomas and Florence Marcus Roberts. Steve graduated from Bluestone High School (1965), Hargrave Military Academy (1966), and Elon College (1970). He served as a radio communications analyst for the United States Air Force Security Service from September 1970 to the end of April 1974. Steve worked for Burlington Industries in the Production and Inventory Control Departments. He served the Boy Scouts of America Troop 7450 as Assistant Scout Master, Advancement Chairman, Troop Committee Chairman, and on Eagle Boards of Review. Steve, a lifelong member of Jamieson Memorial United Methodist Church, served his church in numerous positions including BSA Charter Representative. In addition, he was a member of the Clarksville Ruritan Club and The American Legion. Steve also served on the Clarksville Town Council. On May 22, 1971, Steve married his true love, Joan Thames Roberts, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Whitney Bradford Roberts of Woodbridge, VA; daughter, Sarah Roberts Greene and her husband, Parc, of Frisco, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Barry Thomas and Betty Thomasson Roberts of Clarksville; brother-in-law Douglas Leon Wilkinson of Nelson, VA, and nephews, Eric Leon Wilkinson (wife, Melissa and daughter, McKenzie) and Willis Heath Wilkinson (wife, Kimberly and son, Hudson) of Chester, VA. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, October 26, 2018, at Jamieson Memorial United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at 12:30 pm prior to the service.
