Talmadge Pendleton Whitt, a lifelong resident of Halifax County, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on June 19th, 1940, in Halifax County, he was the son of the late Johnnie Green Whitt and Ida Ford Whitt.
Talmadge grew up surrounded by the natural beauty of Virginia, instilling in him a profound love for the land which led him to a fulfilling career in farming. His commitment to his vocation was matched only by his passion for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding solace and joy in the tranquility of nature. Additionally, he treasured horseback riding, a testament to his adventurous spirit and appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
He is survived by his sisters, Alma Terry and Gladys Lewis; two special nieces, Patsy Cole and Roberta Vaughan; and many other nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Rufus Whitt, Levi Whitt, William Whitt, Franklin Whitt, Junior Whitt, Hazel Whitt & Bobbie Lunsford.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Shady Grove UMC Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation, however, family will receive friends after the service.
The arrangements honoring Talmadge’s life and legacy have been entrusted to Brooks-Lyon Funeral Home, 115 Main Street, South Boston, VA.
