Thomas Clifton Coleman, Jr., 83, husband of Erna Rae Estes Coleman, died Friday, June 01, 2007 at his home. Native to Mecklenburg County, Mr. Coleman was the son of Thomas Clifton Coleman, Sr. and Lina Rogers Coleman. Graduating from Boydton High School with the class of 1941, Clifton served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed on the U.S.S. Omaha. He was a partner in Coleman?s Grocery and retired as Postmaster in Boydton after many years service. Funeral services will be 3:30 PM Sunday at Boydton Baptist Church with the Reverends Andrew Rist and Don Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Boydton Baptist Cemetery. In addition to his wife, Clifton is survived by children and their spouses, Martha and George Gotschalk of Chester, Gary Rogers and Patricia Coleman of Clarksville, Thomas Clifton and Mary William Coleman of Boydton, Steven Estes and Lisa Coleman of Emporia and Kathryn and George Wright of Franklin. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brother, Edward Eugene Coleman; and sisters, Virginia C. Haga and Margaret Sanders, all of Boydton. He was preceded in death by brother, Howard David Coleman; and sister, Nell Coleman. The family will receive visitors at the Coleman?s residence.
