Thomas Joseph Herring III passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at his residence. Born in Richmond, Virginia, on November 2, 1965, he was the son of the late Thomas Herring, Jr and Fleta McBrayer. He was married to Wendy Carter, who survives.
Thomas was a former employee at Bo's Hydraulics and Milam's Equipment where he served as a parts manager for several years. A man of many talents and interests, Thomas found joy in the simplicity of mowing grass, a testament to his deep appreciation for the outdoors. His love for working on cars and mechanics was renowned, often spending his weekends tinkering with engines and immersing himself in the comfort of a toolbox. He was also an ardent fan of fishing and could often be found casting a line in the tranquil waters of Virginia.
Thomas cherished the thrill of wrestling matches on TV, and his musical inclinations leaned heavily towards the twang and storytelling of country music. Above all, he was a devoted family man, constantly surrounded by the warmth of his loved ones and his five cherished fur babies. A community helper at heart, Thomas never hesitated to lend a hand to anyone in need. His all-around affability and willingness to go out of his way made him a cherished friend and neighbor.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy; children, Thomas Herring, Jr, and Dakota Herring; step sons, James Stuller and Steven Williams; sisters, Jackie Staton (Russell) and Lula McBrayer (Robert Leach); brother, Sammy Kirby (Lynn) and Jeff Kirby; mother-in-law, Wanda Barksdale, sister-in-law, Peggy Beckner and numerous nieces & nephews.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Joseph Herring Jr. and Fleta McBrayer; sister, Louise Cathryn McBrayer; brother, Ashton Kirby; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Williams & Michael Beckner and step father, Richard Edward McBrayer.
