Thomas Wayne Lowery, a beloved resident of Alton, VA, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5th, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on November 20th, 1951, Tommy lived a life full of music, love, and cherished moments, leaving behind a legacy that will resonate in the hearts of many.

Tommy was a gifted musician, known for his talents as a guitarist and lead singer. His passion for music echoed through the different bands he played with over the years, touching the souls of those who heard him perform. Beyond his musical endeavors, Tommy enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: reading a good novel, especially books by Stephen King, sitting on the deck watching sunsets and observing the gentle sway of sunflowers with his two beloved cats by his side. Tommy also enjoyed watching NASCAR and football in his down time.

He was a compassionate and caring individual, surrounded by friends and a loving family who cherished his presence. He is survived by his devoted soulmate, Janet Anderson of Roxboro, NC, who shared countless memories and unwavering support throughout his life. Tommy is also survived by his sister, Phyllis Lowery (Lawrence), and a host of nieces, cousins, and incredibly special friends who cared for him deeply over the years.

Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Junior Lowery, his mother, Vivian Green Lowery, and his sister, Vicky Throckmorton.

In honor of Tommy’s life and legacy, a Celebration of Life will be held at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home in South Boston, VA on Sunday, June 14th, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will also take place at the funeral home, beginning at 1:00 PM, where family and friends can gather to share fond memories and pay their respects.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Amedisys Hospice team for their devoted care to Tommy, especially Latasha and Dee Dee.

Arrangements are being handled with care by Brooks Lyon Funeral Home, ensuring that Tommy is honored in a manner befitting his vibrant life.

While he may no longer be with us, Tommy’s spirit will forever live on in the songs he sang, the notes he played, and the hearts he touched.

May he rest in peace, and may his music continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.
