Tilghman Arlis Schraden

Tilghman “Til” Arlys Schraden of Woodbridge, VA died peacefully on August 11, 2025 at the age of 81. He devoted his life to his country, his wife of 45 years Gloria Jean Phillips Schraden, and their son Tilghman “Til” Elvin Schraden II, both of whom were at his side during his final moments.

Born and raised in Allentown, PA, Til was adored by his four sisters: Janice, Joyce, Dolores, and Denise. He enjoyed bowling, poker, reading about history, planning road trips for his family, and cheering on his beloved alma mater, Penn State.

As a young man, Til enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served for five years as an electronics technician and sailed aboard the USS Canopus. After transferring to the US Naval Reserve and attending college, he lived for several years in Richmond, VA before moving to Woodbridge. He worked for almost 30 years as an auditor for the Department of Defense, during which time he received multiple awards for Meritorious Civilian Service.

A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Hitesburg Baptist Church with Reverend Norman Talley and Reverend Ian Rigney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 3 PM until 4 PM at Hitesburg Baptist Church.

He will be dearly missed, and remembered for his wit, integrity, and generosity.
