Tommy Holt Whitlow

Tommy Holt Whitlow, of Virgilina, Virginia passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the age of 75. He was born on November 12th, 1950, to the late Roby Holt Whitlow and Gwendolyn Lowery Whitlow. He was married to Sharon King Whitlow for 50 years, who survives.

A proud Virginia native, Tommy dedicated his life to the soil and the great outdoors, embracing the noble profession of farming with dedication and passion. His love for the land was second only to his love for family, friends, and community. Tommy served his country honorably in the United States Army, a testament to his steadfast commitment to service. He continued his service to the community through his active involvement in the American Legion Post 8, where he not only became a cherished member of the Honor Guard but also held the esteemed office of Commander. His leadership and camaraderie left an indelible mark on those who served alongside him.

An avid outdoorsman, Tommy found joy in deer hunting and spent countless serene mornings in nature’s embrace and many knew him by his radio handle, "Pole Jumper". He brought the same passion he had for farming to his love of baseball, and his allegiance to the Yankees never wavered. Tommy’s enthusiasm extended beyond spectating; he took great joy in umpiring, bringing fairness and fun to local games.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Michelle Whitlow; son, Nicholas Whitlow; brother, Ray Whitlow (Sonya); beloved brother, Ricky Whitlow (Johnette) and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Adam Holt Whitlow.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at the family cemetery, 4196 Kingwoods Road, Virgilina, VA. with military honors.
