Virginia Bohannon Bailey

Mrs. Virginia Bohannon Bailey of Virgilina, VA died Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the age of 99. She was born in Virgilina, VA on June 1, 1913 to the late Dr. Alvah Parrish Bohannon, Sr. and the late Annie Crowell Bohannon and was married to the late Francis M. Bailey. Mrs. Bailey was a graduate of Averett College and taught school in Virgilina. She was a member of the Christian Church in Virgilina where she served as organist for approximately 50 years. Survivors include six nieces and two nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca B. McKinney and two brothers, Alvah Parrish Bohannon, Jr. and James H. Bohannon. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 2:00 PM in Virgilina Cemetery with Rev. Norman Talley officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requsets memorials be made to Virgilinia Fire Dept., PO Box 266, Virgilina, VA 24598.
