Virginia Solomon Loftis

South Boston- Mrs. Virginia Solomon Loftis of South Boston died Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the age of 99. She was born in Halifax Co., VA on March 5, 1917 the daughter of the late William Harvey Solomon and the late Mae Oakes Solomon and was married to the late Andrew Belt Loftis. Mrs. Loftis was a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church and was retired from J.P. Stevens. Mrs. Loftis is survived by her son, Allen Loftis and wife, Nancy of South Boston; granddaughter, Sherry L. Owen and husband, Kenneth of South Boston; and great granddaughters, Jessica and Jennifer Owen. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Addison Solomon, Odell Solomon, and Wallace Solomon, and sister, Margaret Solomon. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Black Walnut Baptist Church with the Reverend Dan Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Black Walnut Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 7 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM.
