Weston Gupton

Weston Walker Gupton departed this life on January 6, 2025 at the age of 89. Weston was born on the family farm in Buffalo Springs, Virginia on December 10, 1936, to the late Douglas E. & Grace Nunn Walker.

She graduated from Clarksville High School with the class of 1954 and from Longwood College in 1958. She taught at the elementary, junior high and senior high levels for a number of years before going to work for her late husband, Bobby J. Gupton, in the family roofing business for over 50 years.

Weston was a life long member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, was active in the WMU, served as Trustee and Treasurer. She was also civic minded by serving on the Town of Clarksville Planning Commission and Town Council. Along with others, Weston was instrumental in helping to start LakeFest in Clarksville in 1977. She was also a sports enthusiast: Weston was a cheerleader, played field hockey in college and later in life played softball and golf. Bobby and Weston also are responsible for bringing Dixie Youth girls softball to Clarksville.

She is survived by her son Douglas Randall Gupton & wife Shannon of Clarksville, daughter Amy Gupton Nelson and husband Rick of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren Douglas Austin Gupton (Kat), Ashley Gupton Wynn (JD), Mary Britt Ferguson (Jacob), and Victoria Nelson Nunnery (Jed), 3 great grandchildren and one sister, Winnie W. Morris and husband Eugene. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Bobby James Gupton and her great grandson, Jacob Bradley Ferguson, Jr.

Weston’s funeral service will be at Gravel Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, January 10 at 2:00 pm and interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gravel Hill Cemetery Fund 1662 Carters Point Road, Buffalo Junction, VA 24529.
