William David Ballard

William David Ballard "Superman", loving husband and father, was received by our Lord and Savior on December 30th, 2025.

David was the youngest son of the late William Nathan and Sarah Anne Ballard, born August 12, 1936. He grew up in Mooresville, NC and graduated from Mooresville High School.

He was an acomplished Master Mechanic, Journeyman, and Vice President of an Environmental company. He was still employed by Environmental Supply in Durham, NC at the time of his passing.

No job was ever too large or too small. No problem too difficult to solve. He always joked "he was a jack of all trades, master of none." But we all knew he was the master of them all.

A devoted member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Creedmoor, NC since 1996. He was a part of missionary work in Hondurus. He enjoyed volunteering with many charitable organizations for the benefits of helping others.

Family meant evything to David, his family always came first. His huge, wonderful heart and kindness could always be seen. He was kind, generous, and had a great sense of humor. He never met a stranger, everyone could be a friend.

He taught his family how to face every day with strength and purpose.

He was our "Superman." You always knew to stay strong, push forward no matter the challenges.

David is survived by his brother Dr. Lewis Ballard from Chapel Hill, NC and sister Shirley Ballard of Huntersville, NC.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Trudy Ballard. Daughters, Debi B. Smallwood, Roxanne Ballard, and Sherry B. Gill. Sons, Chris Ballard, SSgt. Doug Ballard USMC-Ret, William Ballard, and bonus daughter, Amanda Watkins.

David was blessed with 17 wonderful grandchildren as well as 21 amazing great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to honor David's memory will be held on Monday, January 5th at 2pm, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church located in Creedmoor, NC. A visitation will be held one hour prior beginning at 1pm, also at Pleasant Grove Church. An additional visitation will also be held at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home on Sunday, January 4th, from 4pm to 6pm. Burial will follow the funeral service on Monday, at Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor NC.
